PATRIOT’S DAY

Join the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum on Saturday, July
4th for a fun filled day celebrating our nation’s birth with
the second annual Patriot’s Day!
From 10:00am – 5:00 pm, feel as if you stepped back in time,
experiencing what life was like in Colonial America leading
up to the Revolutionary War. Experience craft demonstrations
in canvas work, basketwork, leatherwork, and woodwork,
including furniture making.
Old and young alike can try their hand at sword and pike
drill, Bosn’s skills including knots and rope work,
navigation skills, and cannon drill.
Throughout the day, enjoy musical performances and
presentations on manners and fashions of the era. Play
Colonial era tavern games, and try your hand at Colonial Era
crafts. Food vendors will also be available throughout the
event. The museum and outside events will be free and open
to the public! |

to the United States Coast Guard, was established. Come and
celebrate the Coast Guard’s 219th birthday, and enjoy
activities that celebrate its rich history. Enjoy the
maritime folk music of Bob Zentz and tour a USCG Cutter. |

today, like Blindman’s Buff and Hopscotch, were played over
one hundred years ago? Play these historic games and many
more! Create historic crafts in the Museum’s Discovery Cove!
Also, step aboard the Lightship Portsmouth, but
beware...there are pirates! Did you know that pirates
actually inspired the idea behind Lightships? Meet the Moody
Crewe Pirates and take part in their “School of the Pirate.”
Tour this nearly one hundred year old vessel, and experience
what like was like out at sea! |

lecture as she signs copies of her book, which will be
available for purchase in the Museum Shoppe.

defend your homes Against invasion! But which side do we
join, the British or the American? How can we tell the
difference between the two armies? What is it like in the
army in 1775? Join us for a revolutionary expedition as we
explore the ins and outs of Lord Dunmore’s war.
